Just finished this piece today. This is another drawing of my own, most cherished character I've had for the past eight years. It's exclusively charcoal and ink on 19 x 24 Bristol paper. No references of any kind.
The piece of writing below is from his journal, and explains the drawing.
23 - December - 1794
"I took another walk tonight. Mid-December, and yet it wasnt cold enough to snow. It was raining, and raining so hard I stood beneath a tree in the graveyard for close to two hours. I barely moved. Rigid, saturated to my bones, and unfeeling of the cold, I must have looked like a statue. An ugly, filthy, statue that marked the death of the tree I stood under. I literally felt like a tombstone, and I write this not to tell you of some epiphany or noteworthy thought that passed through my conscience, I write this simply to tell you how empty I felt. I envied the dead. I wanted to belong there, I wanted to lie in the ground and feel no more.
My hands are still wet as I drag my pen across this parchment. In a few places the ink has even smeared, leaving my words illegible, but it doesnt much matter. I only write to you You. Not knowing who you are. My words are the same as my existence itself. Everything of me: my essence, my being, my thoughts drifts into an empty space, immediately shifting to vapor and vanishing on the wind. And I say this not out of self-pity. I state it as fact. I want you to understand me, and to understand me you need to know that I am truly purposeless. Meaningless. Hopeless. An utter mistake, that with each breath becomes less of a person, and more of a ghost who just hasnt died yet "

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
